PRIVACY POLICY
Last updated: September 24, 2026
A Pilgrim's Life (apilgrimslife.com) is a personal journal of recipes, travel and American history. This page explains what information is collected when you visit, who handles it, and the choices you have.
The short version
- There are no accounts, sign-ups or forms, so I don't collect personal information from you.
- The site remembers your light or dark theme choice in your own browser.
- The site may show ads from Google AdSense, which uses cookies.
- I don't sell your personal information.
Browsing the site
The site is hosted by Netlify, which keeps standard server logs, including your IP address and browser details, to deliver and protect the site. Fonts and images are served from this site, not from third parties.
The search box runs entirely in your browser: it downloads a list of entries from this site and filters it on your device. What you type isn't sent anywhere.
Stored in your browser
If you switch between light and dark mode, that choice is saved in your browser's local storage so the site looks the same next time. It never leaves your device, and you can clear it at any time in your browser settings. The site itself doesn't set cookies.
Advertising (Google AdSense)
This site may show ads from Google AdSense. When it does, third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your previous visits to this site and other sites. Google's advertising cookies let Google and its partners serve ads to you based on those visits.
You can turn off personalized ads from Google in My Ad Center. You can opt out of other vendors' personalized ads at aboutads.info (US) or youronlinechoices.com (EU/UK). When ads are shown to visitors in the European Economic Area, the UK or Switzerland, you'll be asked for consent before personalized ads appear, and you can change your choice at any time.
RSS feeds and links
RSS feeds are plain files your feed reader downloads; they contain no tracking. Links to other websites, such as YouTube channels mentioned here, are covered by those sites' own privacy policies.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct or delete personal information about you, or to object to how it's used. I don't hold personal information about visitors myself. For data held by Google or Netlify, use their privacy tools linked on this page. For anything else, email privacy@apilgrimslife.com.
Under some US state laws, personalized advertising can count as "sharing" personal information. You can opt out of it using the ad controls above.
Children
This site isn't directed at children under 13, and I don't knowingly collect personal information from them.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, I'll update it on this page and change the date at the top.
